20 Current Curiosities
What's pulling at your energy?
The Elevator: Curated inputs to expand your mind, grow your business, and live well.
Gordy Bal has this idea that you should always have a list of 20 curiosities – it’s a good check in for yourself to see how curious you are, how engaged, and what’s exciting you that might draw out your energy rather than keep trudging through time.
Here’s a list of some current curiosities. Maybe we align.
I have bigger “themes” of curiosity that change less, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see this list feel and look fairly different in 3 months time…
20 Things I'm Interested in Right Now:
Peptides – Specifically BPC-157, are used to heal some wrist pain. I bought mine from LVLup (Not Health Advice). Peptides seem useful in all types of areas of recovery.
Energy x Ai – As a decade-long theme. I’m following this Substack on the subject.
Agentic protocols – My meme-coin bags are still packed with Virtuals, a16Z and TAO 0.00%↑
Stand-up Comedy – Specifically right now I’m enjoying Nate Bargatze and Lisa Gilroy.
Trusts and foundations – Charitable Trusts, Foundations, and Capital formation around them.
Psychology of parenting – Here’s a radical book on the subject.
Exponential age technologies and post-work thinking – David Mattin is a good place to start.
Old and new ways of doing business – From my last letter, a 1,300-year-old business in Japan’s philosophy.
Rapid Posture Improvement – Egoscue as a method for healing imbalances quickly.
Holistic Sensory Meditation – I’m using The Way App daily.
Understanding the senses and new senses – We have way more than 5 senses, and we’re still barely using the first 5 as it is.
Quantum Mechanics – Right now I’m reading The Biology of Belief and The Holographic Universe.
Beliefs affect on our biology – I’m a huge fan of Helen Langer’s work.
Storytelling and messaging – This is the best book on the subject I’ve read. The funny thing about storytelling is that it’s a much, much bigger rabbit hole than you could imagine. You think you’re learning a technique to tell a story to others and then you realize that everything is story, and that stories are how we make meaning. Becoming a better storyteller helps your life have more meaning in it, literally.
Pants/Trousers – There are so many different kinds and cuts and most are uncomfortable, but you don’t know that until you try new pairs with different cuts that you realize you’ve been living a type of thread-based lack.
Complex Fragrances and Fragrance Design – I’m using Microperfumes to test out scents to samples.
Animated movies - I highly recommend Flow, and for a more family-friendly watch, check out Song of the Sea.
Mixing music – You will see my first full mix on Youtube soon, I’ve played 2 shows, and here is my first Mix recorded to Soundcloud. Each mix right now takes about 20 hours to make.
Our environmental impact on our health – I like this Max Gulhane channel on Light environment. Health is not just what you personally choose to do in your body, but the environment your body lives in.
Daily rituals and protocols of artists and famous people – I’m doing extensive tracking (daily) of my own time and I have been reading about the rituals of others.
What are you curious about right now?
xx David
